Application Process

STEP 1
Surface Preparation

The roof surface is pressure washed to remove all dirt, dust, and other foreign contaminants. This step ensures maximum adhesion of the system to the roof substrate. In some cases, the use of a primer may be necessary. Any problem areas found during surface preparation must be properly addressed before the system can be installed.

STEP 3
BASE COAT APPLICATION

A base coat of Aromatic Urethane 520 is then applied to the roof. This step is what sets the Ure-A-Sil system apart from other roof coating systems on the market. This aromatic urethane base layer acts as a primer and provides the system with superior strength, durability, flexibility, and adhesion.

STEP 2
SEAMS & FLASHING DETAILS

All seams, transitions, penetrations, drains, and other flashing details are coated with Urethane Brush-Grade 522. This highly flexible mastic enables the system to withstand the natural expansion and contraction (thermal cycling) of the roof structure. This step of the application process is especially important, as the “details” of a flat roof are the most common spots for leaks to occur.

STEP 4
TOP COAT APPLICATION

A top coat of Silicone 410 or High-Solids Silicone 412 is then applied to the roof. This silicone top layer not only completes the system, it forms a seamless, flexible, rubber-like seal that provides industry-leading UV protection, reflectivity, weatherability, and resistance to ponding water.
